"I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter. The cast-offs of human society,
I saw in their eyes love & hope, fear & dread, sadness & betrayal. And I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment & then He spoke softly, "I have done something,"
He replied "I created you."
Jim Willis, Author
There are so many dogs – abandoned, homeless, given up by their owners or family members of their former guardians – that need, and deserve, our help. They have no voices to speak and tell their stories and they rely on us to give them the chance at ‘forever homes'.
While you can choose to buy a dog - from a reputable breeder – when you adopt a rescued dog you are truly saving a life – and making a difference in the life of that pet for the rest of its days. Your reward, and ours, is knowing that you have helped in the adoption of these precious and loving ‘fluffs' who might otherwise, without help, not found families with whom they can bond and loving homes that they can call their own.
If you are unable to find a loving companion from Bichon FurKids Rescue, there are other rescue groups with whom we work and recommend - groups that are dedicated to finding forever homes for the dogs in their care. Please, however, NEVER purchase a pet from a pet store - as ALL pet store dogs actually are bred and born in puppy mills. While in these mills they live in horrible and often unsanitary conditions, are not treated by caring individuals and often pass on genetic problems from generation to generation.
Help Wanted!
There are many ways that you can help us - and we appreciate every gesture. Bichon FurKids can always benefit from people willing to foster a dog, donate pet supplies, provide digital cameras, canopies, blankets, dog beds etc., who are willing to sponsor a dog, transport a fur kid, donate services (vets, groomers, grant-writers, pet-sitters, trainers, photographers), who can donate gift cards to PetSmart, PetCo, Costco etc., who would like to donate proceeds from yard sales or car washes (and receive tax deductions) or provide cash to help us cover the costs of vetting and caring for fur kids before they are adopted. Please call or email Marti ( - 760-525-5556 ) and help make a difference in a dog's life!
From time to time people tell me, " Lighten up, it's just a dog," or,
"That's a lot of money for just a dog"...
