Fundraising

We hope you enjoy this video of the 2007 Bichon Bash. It was attended by more than 150 people and almost as many bichons and word has it.... A good time was had by all!

Last summer, we did a lemonade stand to support Miocean. This year, we wanted to do something to help animals, so we all wanted to donate the money to Bichon Fur Kids. We sold brownies, snow cones, lemonade, Skittles and Ring Pops. Our best customers were Charlotte, Lauren, Will, and Will’s dad Bob. They all bought at least one of each! Dana and I made the brownies, Jenny and Madeleine were in charge of lemonade, and Ryan and my Uncle Harold made every single snow-cone. Chris, our bichon, did a great job and did not bark at all at the customers. He seemed to know that barking would be bad for business! When cars were coming, Jenny would run up the street shouting, “Lemonade! Brownies! Snow-cones! Help save the Bichons!” Then when the car got closer to the actual stand, the rest of the team would shout the same thing. Chris would do his job by sitting and looking cute.

We all had a great time and it was very rewarding. After a couple of hours, we had to pack it up. Chris was rewarded with treats, and us kids got brownies and snow cones. In all, we made $51.50.

I’m glad that we could help the Bichons!

Leo was a 'throw away' dog who was turned in to a local San Diego shelter. Because he had mange, he had been covered with grease then painted purple to indicate people should avoid him. The shelter was a kill shelter - and he was on his way to the Rainbow Bridge - when we heard about him. One of our wonderful volunteers saw in his eyes, and actions, a dog that wanted to live, be happy and healthy. We decided to save him. It was not instantaneous, and it was not inexpensive, to bring Leo back to health. Today Leo is a healthy, happy, beautiful little boy.

It is for Leo - and his many brothers and sisters- that Bichon FurKids exists. Your donations make it possible for us to save lives.
