Available Dogs

Here are furkids currently in foster care and ready to meet Forever Families. Since all of our pups are in loving foster homes, as we get to know their personalities and needs, we can then write their bios. If you do not see a story for a particular dog, that means he or she has just recently become a furkid. When we know more about those furkids, we will write their bios.

Since our foster moms and dads have the 'first right of adoption' many times they decide to adopt the furkid they are fostering. If you are interested in fostering (so that you have the right of first adoption), please email .

Please also remember that with bichons, it is about chemistry, more than gender! More males are born, therefore, more come in to rescue. There are probably as many dominant females as there are submissive males. Most males are not leg lifters (many still squat like females) and belly bands take care of that challenge quickly and easily. The bigger challenge we have is that many bichons need another bichon or other dog, as well as human companions. Most of our furkids cannot be 'only children.' When you read the bios you will see which dogs can live with only human companions. With bichons it is all about chemistry - chemistry with you, with other dogs and other breeds!

Please check back for new bios, photos and furkid information! We update the web site several times each week.

Scooter Scooter
Male - Young

My name is Scooter but you can call me Superman ‘cause I can leap tall buildings with a single bound and save fair damsels in distress. (Just kidding about the damsels.) I’m an energetic, happy, healthy and very loving bichon boy of about 17 months. I’m not quite 13 pounds (but I’m working on getting a little bit bigger!) and I’ve never met a man, woman, or child that I don’t like. Mom says that I’m the perfect combination of playfulness and loving – and that I create fun wherever I go. Read more »

Kobe Kobe
Male - Young

My name is Kobe and I am an amazingly sweet, lovable and resilient little guy of about 13 pounds and four years young. I’m a little long-legged bichon mix (Mom says you could call me a tall glass of water) who is as gentle and friendly as a guy can be. Read more »

Suzy Suzy
Female - Puppy

My name is Suzy and I’ve just become a furkid. Mom says that I am a sweet, adorable and happy little girl, all puppy love at eight weeks of age and weighing all of 4 pounds. I’m a black and white cutie (My Aunties don’t know my breed) but I have love in my heart for everyone I meet. I have big brown eyes and Mom says I always look like I’m smiling. (That’s because life is good!) Read more »

Maxwell Maxwell
Male - Young

My name is Max and I’m a gorgeous, happy and active guy of two who loves the people I know —and loves to please! I also love to play, sit on laps and snuggle for all I’m worth.

Mom says I’m a bit of a character – or maybe she says that I have a lot of character. I can’t remember exactly but she says I have the cutest way of waving my paws up and down to get attention. (It works every time, too!) Read more »

Cami Cami Cami & Coby
Male & Female Puppies

Our names are Cami and Coby and we are happy, sweet and sometimes silly little puppies who are 7 weeks old and as cute as they come. According to my Aunties I, Cami, am small but in charge (of my little brother, Coby.) I like to know where he is all the time so we can play and wrestle and snuggle. (We do that a lot you know!) Read more »

Carson Carson
Male - Young

My name is Carson, and I am a sweet and friendly bundle of love who is one year young and weighs only 13 pounds. According to my Mom (as I would never brag!) I’m a loving and very social little guy with a great big heart - and I’m ready to give it to a forever family of my very own! Read more »

Timmy Timmy
Male - Young

My name is Timmy and I’ve just become a FurKid. You may have read about me on Facebook as I’ve already got a bunch of fans. It must be my cute little smile or the fact that I’m so lovable. Read more »

Reggie Reggie
Male - Young

My name is Reggie and I’m a friendly, active and fun-loving guy of about 1 and a half. Mom says I’m the bounciest and silliest pup she has ever known. I’m good with other dogs and even the cat. My aunties say that I have a handsome face, expressive eyes, and that I am an adorable work-in-progress. (Can you tell they really like me?) Read more »

Domino Domino
Male - Adult

My name is Domino and I’m a sweet and gentle lovebug. I am 15 pounds of happiness and sweetness – and a very special little guy too! You see I was born with unformed eyes – but that never kept me from being normal. I ran, played, loved and tumbled with my family. Then one day my family took me to the shelter … and left me! You see my spirit was still loving and giving – but they no longer had time for me. Read more »

Each week BFK takes in dogs that need extra medical care or who, without surgery, would be put to sleep. These pups are in loving foster homes where they are recovering. If you care to support us with a one-time donation or would like to sponsor a pup during its recovery, know that your contribution will help these little ones to once again be whole.

If a picture paints 1000 words let this one tell the story. Hit by a policeman, left on the side of the road for 3 days, some passersby brought him water.... then a good Samaritan brought him to a vet in TJ. He become our newest furkid on Friday and has a long way to go to recovery - but has a beautiful spirit (and lots of friends) to help him.

My name is Cricket and I'm a little guy who has survived a lot already - and has a bit of a journey yet to go!

Everyone who meets me (including all the nice vets that I am getting to know) comments about how I exude sweetness. Aw, gee- what's a guy to do?

The next step of my journey includes getting my leg amputated (I'm not using it now so it's kind of going to be a relief to get it taken off. It's my back leg so it's not going to be as challenging as if it were a front leg.) I also have to get a dental, some bumps removed from my head and eyelid and a few other things (like removing a bunch of foxtails that seem to like me a lot!)

Regardless of all that I've been through and all that lies ahead, I'm an amazingly happy and resilient 12 pound boy who is looking for love in all the right places.

Please think about how much I've been through and help me on the next leg of my journey (well, maybe I should say leg-less but you know what I mean.)

Cuddly and Courageous Cricket
