Available Dogs

Here are furkids currently in foster care and ready to meet Forever Families. Since all of our pups are in loving foster homes, as we get to know their personalities and needs, we can then write their bios. If you do not see a story for a particular dog, that means he or she has just recently become a furkid. When we know more about those furkids, we will write their bios.

Since our foster moms and dads have the 'first right of adoption' many times they decide to adopt the furkid they are fostering. If you are interested in fostering (so that you have the right of first adoption), please email .

Please also remember that with bichons, it is about chemistry, more than gender! More males are born, therefore, more come in to rescue. There are probably as many dominant females as there are submissive males. Most males are not leg lifters (many still squat like females) and belly bands take care of that challenge quickly and easily. The bigger challenge we have is that many bichons need another bichon or other dog, as well as human companions. Most of our furkids cannot be 'only children.' When you read the bios you will see which dogs can live with only human companions. With bichons it is all about chemistry - chemistry with you, with other dogs and other breeds!

Please check back for new bios, photos and furkid information! We update the web site several times each week.

Princess Pudding Princess Pudding

My name is Princess Pudding and you are probably wondering why a wee little girl (only seven pounds) has such a long name. Well, the answer is that's what my former owners called me. They thought the name was as cute as I am and who am I to protest? Read more »

Dee Dee Dee Dee
Female - Adult

My name is Dee Dee and I'm a tiny little 8 year old furkid weighing almost 11 pounds with quite a story to tell. A few years ago I was adopted by a sweet couple who loved and adored me. Pixie Pixie
Female - Young

My name is Pixie and I’m a loving, friendly, affectionate and outgoing bichon of three who is a natural "meeter-and-greeter". I approach all new people to say "Hello', give them a great big smile and wag my tail - then wait to be petted and played with. (They find me irresistible, of course, because I'm so outgoing and friendly!) And if they like to give belly rubs well I'm definitely happy to oblige! Read more »

Theo Theo

Male - Young

My name is Theo, and I am delighted to meet you. Now you might observe that I don’t look like the average FurKid, but my Aunties at BFK say that underneath my beautiful shiny black coat with its amazing white highlights (Thanks, Aunties) I'm a friendly, loving, happy FurKid through and through. My name is Scoobie and I’m a darling little guy of about two who is a bichon mix and weighs about 12 pounds. My foster mom says I’m just about the cutest kid on the block. I exude cuteness. My name is Noodles and, according to my foster mom, I'm a handsome, happy boy, a prancer and an entertainer (more on that in a minute) and a snuggle bunny. (Silly Mom! I'm not a bunny, I'm a furkid!)

Each week BFK takes in dogs that need extra medical care or who, without surgery, would be put to sleep. These pups are in loving foster homes where they are recovering. If you care to support us with a one-time donation or would like to sponsor a pup during its recovery, know that your contribution will help these little ones to once again be whole.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Mimi and, as you can see, I'm a very pretty, happy bichon girl. I have a loving way about me and am friendly with everyone I meet. Before becoming a FurKid I lived with a family that loved me - but then they moved and took me to the shelter. At the shelter I became pretty well known for being a sweet girl, although I had a kind of 'funky walk.'

It turns out, according to our vets, there's a really good reason for that: both of my back legs have torn ACLs. Well, I don't know exactly what that means except apparently it's not the best thing to have so I need to have this thing called a 'surgery.' That means I'm going to have my back legs repaired so I can run like the wind and race with my bichon cousins.

My surgery date is Feb. 17th so my BFK Aunties will be sending new photos from time to time as I recover. In the meantime I wanted to show you how I look right now. I'm a much cleaner, happier version of myself and I've lost one pound already (which will make my recovery better too.)

I hope you will check in on me when you can and wish me a speedy recovery. Thanks to foster mom Debi and foster dad Mike for their care so far. Mom BJ will be in charge of my recovery 'cause she's a nurse who knows how to help me.

XOXOXO,

Magnificent Mimi
