Available Dogs

Here are furkids currently in foster care and ready to meet Forever Families. Since all of our pups are in loving foster homes, as we get to know their personalities and needs, we can then write their bios. If you do not see a story for a particular dog, that means he or she has just recently become a furkid. When we know more about those furkids, we will write their bios.

Since our foster moms and dads have the 'first right of adoption' many times they decide to adopt the furkid they are fostering. If you are interested in fostering (so that you have the right of first adoption), please email .

Please also remember that with bichons, it is about chemistry, more than gender! More males are born, therefore, more come in to rescue. There are probably as many dominant females as there are submissive males. Most males are not leg lifters (many still squat like females) and belly bands take care of that challenge quickly and easily. The bigger challenge we have is that many bichons need another bichon or other dog, as well as human companions. Most of our furkids cannot be 'only children.' When you read the bios you will see which dogs can live with only human companions. With bichons it is all about chemistry - chemistry with you, with other dogs and other breeds!

Please check back for new bios, photos and furkid information! We update the web site several times each week.

Chelsea Chelsea
Female - Young

Hello World! My name is Charming Chelsea and I'm a sweet little fluff of about four or five (years that is!) and as friendly and sweet as can be. My foster Dad says I'm a ‘keeper’ who is affectionate, playful, lovable and lots of fun to have around. I think Dad knows me pretty well-- and I can tell he likes me a lot! Read more »

Maisie Maisie
Female - Young

My name is Maisie and I’m a happy and adorable little Havanese mix of about one year old who weighs 13 pounds. My foster Mom says I’m a very cute little girl who loves everyone – two and four-legged alike. I’m a cuddler and a lover but also a very playful little munchkin. And I’m relatively fearless. Why you should see me run around the yard as fast as I can trying to engage the other pups. Sometimes they join in and sometimes they just watch me ‘in action.’ Read more »

Carson Carson
Male - Young

I’m Carson, a very handsome and loving Bichon boy of about four or five. Buddy would be a great nickname for me because that is just what I am and what I am good at. I am the best buddy you could ask for. I am happy and sweet and I am especially talented at charming my way onto your lap. Read more »

Benny Benny
Male - Young

My name is Blissful Benny and I'm a very handsome and adorable bichon boy of five. My foster Mom says I'm the sweetest and most optimistic boy you'll ever meet and that I'm definitely a 'people pup.' (I think she means that I'm a cuddle-bug and lover boy who simply enjoys people.) Read more »

Reagan Reagan
Male - Adult

I'm Reagan and I'm an amazingly cute and friendly little Bichon boy of about six with the energy of a pup. You can see from my picture that I have beautiful white hair and black button eyes and a smile that lights up the room. My foster mom says I'm a cuddlebug and a lap pup who is eager to please and very engaging (not to mention that I'm mellow and quiet too.) Read more »

Buddy Buddy
Male - Young

My name is Buddy- and my Mom says I’m a delightful and very happy bichon boy about five or six. Buddy is a great name for me because that is just what I am and what I am good at. I am the best buddy you could ask for. I am happy, sweet and especially talented at charming my way onto your lap. Dad says I just focus my big brown eyes on you and presto! There I am. Jodie, Mother to Be - Due in May

JodieJodie

Jodie is going in for another ultrasound on Monday. We think the puppies will be born probably the week of the 25th or soon thereafter (hence the ultrasound). She is carrying at least four puppies and, as you can see, she's getting rounder by the day. While Jodie is walking a bit slower than before, she still enjoys her walks and is as sweet as ever.

Healing FurKids

Help Me Heal
Donate Now

Each week BFK takes in dogs that need extra medical care or who, without surgery, would be put to sleep. These pups are in loving foster homes where they are recovering. If you care to support us with a one-time donation or would like to sponsor a pup during its recovery, know that your contribution will help these little ones to once again be whole.

This is Bandit. I named him that because he has stolen our hearts. This little guy was attacked and left for dead in Riverside. Some large animal or coyote was responsible for puncturing his eyeball and other wounds throughout his little body.

We were notified about him late yesterday and raced to the shelter to pick him up today. Bandit is now at Stonecreek where he will be given medication immediately and a chance to rest-- then we will reevaluate his status on Friday.

Dr. Glass says he's about 4 years old and 13 pounds and is as sweet as he is beaten up. Dr Glass told me this little guy will be an absolute dream to adopt once he is well. Please say your prayers that we don't have to remove his eye. He's a fighter and, as the saying goes, a lover. And we want to do everything we can to make up for whatever he was lacking in his previous life.
